Moyola Youths 2-1 DC Youths

Saturday 27th September saw Draperstown take on an experienced Moyola side in their first game of the newly formed North West and Coleraine District Youth League.
Draperstown got off to a bad start finding themselves 2 down after 10 mins. A mixture of nerves and hesitation giving Moyola the chances which they converted well.
After the early lapses Draperstown began to settle and play some attractive football. The Draperstown wingers and front two gave Moyola plenty to think about with their pace and with a bit more luck Draperstown could have got a goal or two. Moyola were not out of it however and the runners from midfield caused a problem for Draperstown who defended doggedly until half time.
Draperstown made a couple of changes at half time in a bid to bolster the midfield and stop the Moyola runners. The continued Draperstown pressure paid off when they were awarded a penalty for handball. The captain, Ryan Mc Guigan stepped up and drilled the penalty to the bottom right hand corner to make it 2-1. The young home team continued to push for the equaliser but were lucky not to go further behind when Moyola missed a great chance with the Draperstown keeper stranded.
At the final whistle Draperstown could consider themselves unlucky not to have forced the draw. In the end it was a very good all round performance against a more experienced team.
