Damian McGrogan Memorial Cup 2007

Draperstown Celtic’s annual pre-season tournament, named after one of the club’s greatest servants, Damian McGrogan, takes place once again this year, beginning on Monday July 23rd. The competition has grown from strength to strength and last year’s tournament was considered to be one of the best held.

Magherafelt Sky Blues will be determined to hold on to the trophy they won in a thrilling penalty shoot out against Limavady Utd who are also back in the competition, under the new management team of Ollie Mullin and Joe Doherty. There are plenty of other past winners on show, as Tobermore Utd., Moyola Park, Dungiven and Lurgan Celtic were all in the draw which took place on Friday night, which is given in full below. Cookstown Olympic and Draperstown Celtic take up the remaining two places with the host side determined to improve on their record in the tournament, though a first round draw against Limavady United may mitigate against that.

All games are to be played at the Cahore Road playing fields and it gives a good opportunity for local fans to see their team in action and as always, an excellent opportunity for the clubs to get in some competitive match action before the rigors of the season actually kicks off.

24/07/07: Game B – Lurgan Celtic v Magherafelt Sky Blues

25/07/07: Game C – Tobermore Utd v Cookstown Olympic

26/07/07: Game D – Limavady Utd v Draperstown Celtic

30/07/07: SEMI-FINAL (1) WINNERS A v WINNERS B

31/07/07: SEMI-FINAL (2) WINNERS C v WINNERS D

03/08/07: FINAL

Kick off 7pm Sharp at Cahore Playing Fields. 45minutes each way to be decided on a penalty shoot-out in the event of a draw.
